Our existing units served us well for over 2 years, but we needed more space, which this unit gives us ample, allowing us to make more furniture and grow as a business! Here we will be able to make more of our rustic reclaimed furniture without having to squeeze between each other for space! The new home will allow us to hand craft our furniture with the aid of more tools and equipment, plus the chance to work more safely.

Our new space allows us to have a separate workshop area, finishing/wrapping area, plus there is room for a good sized office and even a showroom area. This allows us to showcase our products and display them proudly. If you are interested in visiting, please contact us in advance and we will happily make time for your visit.

The Bishopstoke door is our take on the classic barn door in a sliding door format. A simple rustic style with 3 thick beams going across the horizontal planks. Finished with a simple yet elegant round black handle which helps give it its barn style theme. This door is the perfect style if you are after a classic rural/rustic look.

ARCHER

Just like the Bishopstoke style, this rustic sliding door features horizontal planks but features a top and bottom vertical border capping the door, very similar to the ‘breadboard’ end on our Bitterne table. Our Archer door features a handmade wooden handle on the front side, giving it a true farmhouse look in any home.

Using reclaimed timber makes a real difference to a home. It comes with a sense of history and individuality, which is visible in the natural markings, indentations and original nail holes the wood bears. What’s more, the very nature of reclaimed wood means that no two pieces are the same, so your reclaimed wood furniture is truly unique, with its own character and sense of style passed on from its previous life.

Apart from its unique individuality, one of the benefits of using reclaimed timber is that it prevents unnecessary waste from entering landfills, therefore reducing the release of gasses. The Global Trees Campaign estimates that less than 10% of wood waste is reused, with approximately 3,000 tonnes of what could be recycled timber sent to landfills or burned every working day in Britain. Using reclaimed timber not only reduces the amount we waste, but it also creates less demand on cutting down our trees. As we know, trees are essential in reducing carbon emissions, as well as being a vital source of food and protection for communities around the world. What’s more, our timber is locally sourced so this reduces emissions/gases during its journey to us.

As mentioned above, our reclaimed timber will have all the characteristics from its previous life. This can include marks, nail/screw holes, cuts, indentations as well as unique grain detailing, knot holes and more. This makes each item unique and can look great! We take great care with each piece to ensure that it is sanded down smooth whilst being visually appealing. The doors can be made to measure, rails and accessories come included. Our sliding doors are very popular, so we’ve included below some familiar questions we get asked.

What is the thickness of the wood?
The reclaimed timber we use on these doors, as with most of our furniture, is approx 3.5cm. Please note our Harefield doors are thicker at approx 7cm

What is the distance from the top of the door, to the top of the rail system?
Allow approx 15cm. It is also worth noting the ‘J’ hooks that hang from the rail and the door are approx 30cm in length.

Is there a mechanism to stop the door sliding off the rail?
Yes, each rail will come with stoppers to be placed where desired on the rail

What accessories come with the sliding barn door?
Each reclaimed wood door will be supplied with the rail of your choice and will be fitted with the recessed handle. We will also supply the pull handle too, which can be placed where desired on the door. This will arrive in a separate parcel along with the rail. Please let us know if you require floor guides.

How heavy are the doors, and can they be placed on plasterboard/stud walls?
Each door obviously is different in weight depending on its size, but on average each door can weigh approx 30kg-35kg. We do not recommend them being hung on plasterboard walls, unless the rail can be attached using the studs behind.

How do I know what size rail to choose?
As a rule of thumb, to ensure you can open the door fully, we recommend a size that’s double the width of your door providing you have space for the rail/door to open. More information on this can be found on the product listing.

Can you make customisations?
We will of course be open to customisations depending on the nature of them. We will also be happy to stain in alternative

finishes if you require, just get in touch.

How will my door be delivered?For logistical safety reasons,we will send the door separate to the rail/handle and accessories. The rail and pull handle will need installing and attaching upon receipt.

Will my door order come with any instructions?
Yes, each sliding rail will come with these

How far does the door come out from the wall?
Approx 5cm, please note that our Harefield doors are thicker than the rest of our door range. These are 7cm thick rather than 3.5cm

Whats a pelmet/baton?
This is for the rail to sit on in the same timber as the door to help allow door installations with limited ceiling space and/or doors needing to be installed on plasterboard walls. This pelmet can then be drilled into the wooden studs behind.

We’ve also included some new product updates with more choices available when you order your desk or table. We will also be starting to use more raw live edge materials too.

I have used reclaimed scaffold boards from the very start and whilst I still love working with them, I just wanted to use something more solid, hard wearing and that’s easier to work with. The availability of scaffold boards has also become challenging for a while. Redwood is perfect for furniture.

We will still be using reclaimed scaffold boards for some of our pieces as well as bespoke items and requests. All existing orders in these lines will of course still be used with reclaimed scaffold boards.

As a compromise for using less of these I will be donating each month to The National Trust (www.nationaltrust.org.uk) to plant more trees.
