Our Finishes

Here at The Dancing Woodman, we use Osmo to stain your furniture. Our standard finishes are; Natural, Clear, Amber, Light Oak, Oak and Antique Oak.

All of our coloured stained pieces (Amber, Light Oak, Oak and Antique Oak) are treated in hard wearing Osmo Polyx oil. This is a versatile, premium, protective, tinted hardwax oil for use on most interior wood surfaces and furniture. It is hard-wearing and extremely tough.

Coloured stained pieces are then second coated in clear finishing oil to further seal the wood and to protect it furthermore from moisture/liquids etc.

Our Natural and Clear finishes are transparent oils that highlight the woods natural tone, texture and markings more so than a coloured stain.

Please note, due to each piece of reclaimed timber having unique characteristics, sometimes there can be slight variances from piece to piece, so never expect two pieces to be exactly the same.

Here is a brief explanation of each finish;

Natural

Our lightest finish. Transparent but can give off a ‘whitewashed’ look on occasions. A very popular finish that will work with many colour themes.

Clear

A clear transparent oil. Warmer than our Natural finish, a slight golden yellow appearance on occasions.A very popular finish that will work with many colour themes.

Amber

Orange-brown in appearance. Looks great offset against darker surroundings.

Light Oak

Our lightest ‘Oak’ finish, a finish that is honey like in appearance

Oak

A favourite which is golden in appearance that accentuates warmth in the furniture it’s stained in.

Antique Oak

Our darkest finish. Given its dark hues, the finish still manages to showcase the vintage reclaimed texture of our wood really well. A very popular finish.

We can of course source and use any brand/colour of stain that you may have seen elsewhere on your furniture. Just get in touch! Please note this may incur an additional charge.
